Weekly Wrap Up

Happy Easter! We have finished our third grading period! Only 9 more weeks left as kindergartners; can you believe it?

Our week was short due to Easter Break and a snow day. Last week, illustrator Jeff Ebbeler came to our school and shared about what it is like to be an illustrator. He showed us some pop up books that were very cool.

Our plants we planted last week have started to sprout. Our science center for the next several weeks will be to observe the plants and draw a picture in their journals.

We are continuing to work on addition and subtraction during math. This week, they used some pond animals to make addition problems.

In preparation for Easter, we talked about animals that come from an egg. The kids made an awesome list and then wrote a page for a class book.

The PTO put together an Easter Egg hunt for the kids in our school. Each class got a turn, and there was an egg for every child. Inside one egg, there was a special prize for the child who chose that egg. The kids had a blast! Thanks to the PTO for everything they did!

Next week, you will see grade cards come home on Wednesday. If you have any questions about their grade cards, please let me know.

Weekly Wrap Up

This week we learned about plants. We labeled plant parts and learned about the life cycle of plants.
The most exciting part of this study was on Wednesday, when we actually planted seeds. My dad is a trained horticulturist and he came in to talk about plant needs and help us plant. We are doing some group plants and each student will have their own plants as well. We are waiting for them to grow now!

We have been working on matching numbers together. We have been using dominoes to help us recognize matching numbers.

Next week, we are working on sh and ch and continuing to read using the bossy e at the end of a word. Our sight words will be you, can, and play. We will be talking about farms and how we get goods from farms. Our grading period ends on Thursday, so we will be wrapping up any assessments we need to do for grade cards. Thursday, we will have a school wide Easter Egg Hunt.
