Weekly Wrap Up

Math
We started working with numbers 11-30 this week. We are working on identifying them and building them. We used a hundreds chart game to locate numbers.

We explored spheres this week as well. Students compared a sphere to a circle. Kindergarteners need to be able to recognize 2-D shapes as flat and 3-D shapes as solid. We also worked to put the spheres in order from smallest to largest.

We also explored quarters for the first time this week. Students sorted dimes, nickels and quarters and we made observations.

The Wedding of Q and U
We worked on the letters q and y this week. To help us remember that q and u are always together, we threw a q and u wedding! Students colored bowties for the festivities.

Next Week
We will be starting long vowels next week. We will be focusing on the bossy e at the end of the word that makes the vowel say its name. We will be learning about plants and continuing to work with coins. Our sight words are be, and, and all.
