On Tuesday, we had a Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade collaborative day. We all read Me on the Map, a book that puts different geographical things into perspective. It starts with a little girl's bedroom, then her house, street, community, town, state, country, and world. After we read the book, we went outside and made our own map of a city using sidewalk chalk! The kindergarteners made lots of restaurants, a park, and houses.
-A humpback whale is 48 feet long, or 13 kindergarteners.
-A blue whale is 110 feet long, or 28 kindergarteners! This is the biggest animal that has ever lived.
-A beluga whale is 15 feet long, or 4 kindergarteners.
-A killer whale is 27 feet long, or 6.5 kindergarteners.
We also learned that one whale has baleen (the filter they have instead of teeth) that is 15 feet long! They got a kick out of realizing that was like 2 of our tables.
On Thursday, the Upper Sandusky EMS came to teach us about what they do and let us get in the ambulance.
