Apple Weekly Wrap Up

We finished our apple unit this week, with lots of fun activities.
We answered the question "How do apples taste?" We tried red, yellow, and green apples, then graphed our favorite variety. Sorry the pictures a little fuzzy - they weren't sitting still very long while they munched.

We made applesauce in the crock pot. We followed a recipe and then got to eat it!

In Math, we've been working on numbers 6-10. We have been using 10s frames and writing the numbers. We made some anchor charts with different representations of the numbers.

We are working on becoming expert readers. This week we got to start reading with partners.

Next week, we are working on the letter t and adding "this" as a sight word.

This week, I did a check of some basic skills. I sent home an orange half sheet with their information on it, but I've also put grades on the online parent portal.

On Monday and Tuesday, we will be taking an online diagnostic test called i-Ready. It asks lots of questions and gives a level they are performing at. It helps me better teach your children, and also helps us track growth. I will send home the scores in the next couple of weeks.

Please see your newsletter for upcoming dates. Please send library books back this Tuesday.

:) Miss McPheron
