Fire Safety Week

This week was Fire Safety Week. We learned about firefighters, fire trucks, and how to be safe in a fire. The best part of the week though, was when the Upper Sandusky Fire Department came to talk to us. They gave us a few tips to be safe, and showed us their gear.

We also had our pizza party for selling the most in the fundraiser. To quote one of the kids, today was "the best Friday ever!"

We also worked on Compare and Contrast this week. They thought very carefully about similarities and differences with our book for the week and different pictures. We wrote about fire safety independently today. I am working on challenging them to write on their own, rather than copying an example or using my model. We are using capital letters to start our sentences, periods to end the sentences, and spaces between our words.

In Math, we finished up our numbers to 10. We took a test today, hopefully test grades will be posted by the end of the weekend. We are starting on numbers beyond 10 on Monday. Students will learn about numbers in the teens, so if your child does not recognize all of those numbers immediately, please work on those with them! We will be showing these numbers on tens frames and working on writing them.

Next week, we will learn about Christopher Columbus in Social Studies and Living and Nonliving Things in Science.

We have library on Tuesday, so please return your library books.
Book Orders are due on Wednesday.

Please see our newsletter for more detailed upcoming dates and new sight words.
Please contact me with any questions or concerns!
