Weekly Wrap Up

Our story this week was called "Nature Spy." Our focus was what we can notice in nature if we look closely, so of course we had to practice! We went outside and found a leaf. We used magnifying glasses to observe our leaves.

We also did some writing today about nature. Our goal for the day was to use interesting words. We added color words or size words in our sentences. We are still working on those basic writing skills - capitalization, punctuation, and spacing.

In Math, we are working on teen numbers. Students need to be able to recognize the numbers and represent them with objects. We use 10 frames to help us model the numbers.

Next week, we are going to be learning about bats. We will also be starting our pumpkin study to prepare for our field trip. The quarter ends on Friday, so I am working on assessments. You will see grade cards come home October 29. The assessments are done one on one with me, so I typically am asking the students to do a task for me to show me if they are proficient for that standard on the grade card.

See the newsletter for upcoming dates. Please contact me with any questions!
