Weekly Wrap Up

We spent our week continuing to learn about pumpkins.
We learned about the pumpkin life cycle by reading a nonfiction book and sequencing pictures as a class and in our pumpkin journals.
We made observations of the pumpkin we brought home from the pumpkin farm. We measured how tall it was in cubes.

We measured how many links it took to go around the outside.

We looked inside then counted (some of) the seeds on a 100s chart.

We created our own paper jack-o-lanterns then wrote sentences to describe our pumpkins.

We have been working on numbers beyond 10 in math. We counted by 1s to 100 - this is our goal for kindergarten. We also need to be able to count by 10s to 100. We observed dimes then practiced counting by jumping over dimes and counting.

I posted math test grades on Power School tonight, so you should be able to see those. I will send home the tests early next week.

Next week, we are going to learn about voting. We are also going to learn about veterans at the end of the week. We are beginning our 2-dimensional shapes chapter on Monday for math. You should have found the standards and some ways to practice at home in your folders attached to the newsletter today. If you have any questions, please let me know!
Upcoming dates can be found on the newsletter.
