Double Weekly Wrap Up

We have had a busy couple of weeks! We have been learning about insects and watching our caterpillars change into pupas. One student commented this week that the "pupas were having a dance party in their chrysalis" because they move to scare off predators. We learned about bees, lightning bugs, ants, and dragonflies. We made bees and did some informative writing about them. We also painted dragonflies to hang in our windows.

As a thank you to our wonderful secretary Mrs. Beach, we painted butterflies (her favorite) and made a banner to hang in the office.
We have read a lot of books about pizza this week and talked about where we get certain ingredients. We also read a procedural text to learn about the steps of making a pizza. Our field trip is Monday - make sure to wear tennis shoes and a jacket if its a chilly morning. Lunch is provided on Monday.

We are reviewing in math and reading as we wrap up the year. Can you believe we are wrapping up the year? Your sweeties are soon to be first graders!! We are doing a lot of partner, hands on math work. We practiced subtracting from 10 with tens frames this week.

A full list of our May activities is on the back of this week's newsletter. Please take a look at these - there are family activities and reminders of what students need to wear on what days as well.

Have a great weekend - looks like the weather is going to be gorgeous!
