Weekly Wrap Up

We spent the week learning about the rainforest! We read informational books on different rainforest animals, and then wrote informational pieces about each animal. The students then had to analyze their work to choose the best one to display at school. We wrapped up the rainforest week by watching Rio 2!

We are reviewing many skills in math. One day this week, we made a human number line from 1-24! The kids had to problem solve to figure out how to do this on their own as a class.

We also did an activity called "Spill the Beans" with a partner. Students worked on making teen numbers in different ways by dumping out a cup of double sided counters. The students then made a number bond and colored tens frames to match.

This week is our mad scientist reading week! We will be doing different experiments and reading a lot! We have some guest readers coming in. Monday is a School wide Read-A-Thon. Wednesday is dress like a scientist day. I have funny glasses with a nose for all the kids. Friday we are making ice cream - students should bring winter gloves so their fingers don't get too cold.

Check out the back of your newsletter for details on all the year end activities. Please email me with any questions - I know this is the first end of the year at East for many of our kindergarten families!
