We made it through a long, hot week! This week we have worked on learning the names of letters and learning to write them. The pace will pick up next week and we will start working on more than one letter a day. We will continue working on the sight words "I" and "am" and will add "and" this week.
In Math, we have been working on counting groups up to 5 and writing numbers 0-5. We use a lot of objects to practice that, as well as pictures on paper and the Smart Board.
We used stickers to represent numbers as well. Peeling stickers is great to build fine motor skills, that will eventually help their hands get stronger for writing.
In Social Studies, we learned about the American Flag. We learned that the flag represents our country, and the kids made flags to represent themselves - thanks for helping your child make their flags!
We are still working on routines. We read a book called Too Much Glue and practiced making dots with our liquid glue. We put glitter on the dots on a monster to make a glitter monster! They're hanging in the hallway at school. Squeezing glue bottles is another way to build hand strength.
If you have any questions or concerns, let me know! Send a note in the orange folders or send me an email.
