First Week of School

We had such a great start to our school year! This week, we learned routines and rules.

We read Pete the Cat Rocking In My School Shoes. You can see a video of this book here. We took a tour of the school to see the lunchroom, playground, office, music, and art room. We also made hats with Pete the Cat!

We are learning how to do centers. Eventually, our centers will be a great time for the kids work with each other and practice academic skills we are doing in class. Right now, we are starting off with more play based centers. During centers, we rotate to different stations that each have a different activity. This is when we use the computers, iPads, read books, write, and use the Smart Board.

We spent a lot of time learning each other's names. We read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, and then made a letter for the beginning of everyone's names. I will hang these in the hallway, and they will come home in a couple weeks.

I'm so excited to get to know our class better and for us all to learn about each other! Next week, we will start our Reading and Math curriculum. We will start learning letters Aa-Ee next week and have the sight words "I" and "am." We are going to work on numbers 0-5.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me, send a note in the orange folder, or send a text using the Remind service if you have signed up for that!
